Locality

Burleigh Heads is one of the most popular spots on the beautiful Gold Coast. You can enjoy either a relaxing holiday on the stunning beaches or take in the many activities and nightspots that the Gold Coast offers. Burleigh Heads National Park is right on your doorstep and offers ancient volcanic columns that meet the sea.

The northern side is one of Australia's most famous surfing point breaks. You can walk to Tumgun lookout, where migrating whales may be seen. Admire the coastal vista to Surfers Paradise across Burleigh Beach, the venue for many international surfing tournaments. Take the 1.2 kilometre Oceanview walk or the 2.3 kilometre (return) Rainforest circuit through a living museum of plants, many of them rare. See Australian brush-turkey nesting mounds, seabirds and water dragons. Picnic on Burleigh foreshore or relax on Echo Beach.

Take a day trip to Sea World on the Southport spit and swim with the dolphins or take in all the thrills of Dreamworld, Movieworld and Wet and Wild. API members receive discounts at the theme parks and they offer a great day out packed with fun and action.

Only a short drive to the north is one of the best known beaches in the World at Surfers Paradise and it offers everything you could want for a great day or night out.

If you are looking for relaxation and a drive to some stunning locations visit the hinterland of the Gold Coast which stretches down to Byron Bay the most easterly point in Australia. Many hours can be spent at the Byron lighthouse watching the dolphins and whales (in season) pass by.
